NAD IV Drip in NYC: A Nurse Practitioner’s Guide to the Science

Bad & Expensive NAD+ vs. Good & Free NAD+

For NYC’s elite clientele that value health adn wellness, mobile IV therapy has become a staple. However, when it comes to specific treatments like NAD IV drips, VIPS IV, as a provider committed to safety & efficacy, urges a closer look at the science. After a lot of evidence-based research, let’s talk about why everyone is going crazy about NAD IV drips, and if real science backs the miraculous claims of NAD+.

What is NAD+ and what is it supposed to do?

NAD+ stands for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, which is a coenzyme that quietly runs the show in every cell of your body—fueling energy production, DNA repair, and even cellular resilience. NAD is found in every cell, but here’s the thing: as we age, the levels of NAD+ go down. Some alternative medicine providers claim that declining NAD+ levels are why we feel tired as we age.

NAD+ IV drips are intended to be used to recharge our bodies with more energy, and by getting it through your vein with an IV drip, you essentially get it more quickly, bypassing the stomach. Many NAD+ IV clinics claim it delivers glowing skin, fewer wrinkles, DNA repair, sharper focus, and faster fat-burning. At $1,000+ per session, only celebrities like Justin Bieber and Kendall Jenner1 can afford them. By the way, have you ever considered that maybe IV therapy companies might be offering celebrities free NAD+ IV drips in exchange for promoting their products as brand ambassadors? I don’t think we will ever know the answer to this question. But now, let’s look at the science.

The Science: Where’s the Proof that NAD is awesome and safe?

I sifted very carefully through a ton of research articles like a detective and here is the hard truth that I found:
NAD used as a possible addiction aid: In the 1960s, Dr. Paul O’Hollaren claimed2 IV NAD+ helped with addiction.
NAD for cognitive improvement: A 2024 study3 found no cognitive benefit from nicotinamide riboside in older adults with mild cognitive impairment.  But a small 26-patient Alzheimer’s disease study4 showed mild improvement in verbal fluency with oral NAD.
Energy improvement:  One small study5 showed improvement in chronic fatigue symptoms—but with too few participants to generalize.
Is NAD safe: A systematic review6 reported that NAD use may lead to side effects like muscle pain, nervous disorders, fatigue, sleep problems, and headache. However, we really do not know what the long term effects of NAD IV drips can be. Have you ever read about a drug called thalidomide?  It was originally discovered in 1952 but was not studied well enough before it was approved. It was used as a sedative and as an anti-morning sickness medication but was later discovered that it causes major birth defects. So it is wise to proceed with caution when using non-FDA approved products. Clearly NAD is not a miraculous cure without side effects.

The conclusion is clear: More rigorous clinical trials are needed to further pinpoint the safety and specific clinical usefulness of NAD. This is why vipsiv.com does not offer NAD as a treatment, because technically it is not a real treatment for anything and has not been approved the FDA. Vipsiv.com wants only the safest, best studied, and most effective science proven medicines for its clients.

woman exercising to boost NAD levels naturally in NYC mobile IV context

Do you know the biggest secret of NAD+ that IV companies don’t want you to know?

What if I told you that you can naturally improve your NAD levels for FREE and without any side effects, would you believe me? Believe it or not it has been scientifically proven that everyone can increase their NAD levels for FREE with just exercise in these studies below.
When you exercise, NAD+ levels increase in certain body tissues only, and the level of NAD increase depends on the type of exercise you do, how hard you exercise, and your personal level of fitness.7

Here’s how NAD levels increase in simple terms: when you exercise NAD+ production is “turned on” by a “recycling” process in your cells (called the salvage pathway). Also, during exercise, your body releases small packets called extracellular vesicles which carry a helper molecule called NAMPT. These packets go around your body and help spread NAD+ signals between different tissues.8

These adaptations are thought to contribute to an improvement of mitochondrial function, metabolic health, and also protection against age-related decline in NAD+ by activating protective pathways.9

This is my contribution to all of you amazing health enthusiasts reading this, FREE NAD without side effects. Here’s to wellness that’s as legit as a New York bagel. Stay vibrant, stay smart, and let’s keep it real!
